An innovative chilled manufacturing company supplying a broad range of products to the major retailers. They are growing from strength to strength and are now seeking a proactive Food Safety Manager to maintain their high quality standards across the site.
Reporting to the Head of Technical, you will manage the operation and maintenance of the CLASS II pathogen laboratory to CLAS /RSA accreditation standards. This will include managing, developing and training a large laboratory team as well as working closely with factory teams. You will be responsible for all the lab operations with regards to micro and chemical testing as well as ensuring appropriate actions are taken to enhance the site’s food safety performance. You will take the lead in managing the site’s micro improvement plans, site environmental monitoring and liaising with external labs. Other aspects of the role will include investigating atypical results, investigating quality system failures and documenting out of specification reports. You’ll also be involved in product and raw material release control and contributing to the company’s HACCP plans.
Would suit a Science graduate (microbiology, chemistry or food technology) who has experience of managing a food laboratory team within the chilled food manufacturing sector.
You must have a strong microbiological understanding and be able to thrive in a fast paced environment within a complex food category.
You’ll need to have a great eye for detail and an analytical mind in order to assess and interpret data as well as put effective action plans in place. Strong communication, leadership and influencing skills are key to excelling in this role and also to effectively present information to senior teams and customers.
